我是冲着锻炼英文去的，呵呵，不过，觉得这本书还是写得很好的！
这本书，是美国人关于自身在21世纪的生存战略构想，也是美国人民忧患意识的一次集中体现。相当于我们经常说的，盛世危言。 弗里德曼总结了十大让世界变平的科技原因。在科技为王的时代，这是一个相当有意思的总结，跟互联网相关的所有重要的技术都被罗列其中。然而，弗里德曼并没有停止。他太了解美国了：作为地球上过去40年唯一一个没有遭受战争侵害的国家，在经历了冷战胜利，政治和美元强势的大发展后，创造了互联网平台的美国人，聪明的人更加聪明，而那些希望坐享其成的落后的中产阶级，有可能在未来的竞争中，无法延续现在的富足生活。
弗里德曼宣布“世界是平的”，他回忆起小时候他父母常常这样说：汤姆，把你碗里的饭吃干净，别忘了中国人正在挨饿。而现在，他给美国父母们的建议是这样的：孩子，去做你的作业，别忘了中国人或印度人正对你的工作岗位虎视眈眈。 在平坦的世界里，没有所谓的美国人的工作，任何人，只要有能力，都可以参加竞争。
人家已经吃在嘴里，看着别人的锅里。我们还觉得自己的小日子不错，这种不思进取的想法，想起来都让人害臊。
为了我们的后代有更多吃肉的机会，现在的人都可以重读《世界是平的》。从第6章到第8章，我们一定可以体会到很多压力。这是美国人的盛世危言，也是我们开始学习思考的一次机会。
